Potential new 4-H members, as well as their parents and guardians, are invited to a free bowling and pizza night Friday, Nov. 8, beginning at 6 pm at the Greene County Extension office. The night will begin with fun and learning more about the 4-H program before heading to Spare Time Lanes in Jefferson to bowl. Youngsters and parents will have an opportunity to ask questions they may have about 4-H. Youth will get a chance to meet other 4-H members and get involved in team building activities.
According to Sarah Jo Reynolds, county youth and families coordinator for Greene County Extension, the evening will be a fun way to help new members feel more a part of the organization that focuses on positive youth development. “Sometimes, all the different components of 4-H can seem overwhelming to a new member and parents,” Reynolds said. “You do not have to be currently enrolled in 4-H to attend this event. Please RSVP to come ask questions and learn more about Greene County 4-H.”
The event is a joint effort between the Greene County 4-H Youth Development Program Committee and the Greene County 4-H Young Leaders.
The event is free, but to get a good head count, reservations are requested by noon on Nov. 8. To RSVP contact Sarah Jo Reynolds at 515-386-2138 or sarahjo@iastate.edu. Youth and parents thinking about joining 4-H are also invited, and friends are welcome to attend as well.
